Celebration of Life booklets are becoming an increasingly meaningful way for families to remember someone special following a direct, simple or unattended cremation.
The way we say goodbye to our loved ones is changing.
More families are now choosing a direct, simple or unattended cremation, where the cremation takes place without a traditional funeral ceremony. Services such as Pure Cremation, alongside direct cremation options offered by funeral directors, have made this an increasingly familiar choice for families.
Choosing an unattended cremation, however, doesn’t mean you can’t bring family and friends together afterwards to remember and celebrate the life of someone special.
Many families choose to hold a Celebration of Life, memorial service, memorial party or informal gathering at a later date – and at Orchid Memories, we can help make that occasion even more personal with beautifully designed and printed memorial stationery.
Can You Have an Order of Service After a Direct Cremation?
Absolutely.
An Order of Service booklet doesn’t have to be produced solely for a traditional funeral or crematorium service.
If your loved one has had a direct or unattended cremation, you can still have a personalised booklet created for a Celebration of Life or memorial gathering afterwards.
In fact, because these occasions often have a more relaxed format, your booklet doesn’t necessarily need to follow a traditional funeral Order of Service at all.
Instead, it can become a beautiful keepsake celebrating the person’s life.
What Can You Include in a Celebration of Life Booklet?
Your memorial service booklet can be completely personalised to suit your gathering and the person you are remembering.
You may wish to include photographs throughout their life, favourite poems or readings, memories and short stories, tributes from family and friends, favourite sayings, song lyrics or details of music being played, information about their life and achievements, or simply a programme showing what will happen during the gathering.
You could also include details of a chosen charity, a message of thanks to everyone attending or information about raising a glass together in their memory.
There are no fixed rules. The booklet can be as traditional, informal, colourful or personal as you would like it to be.
Memorial Booklets for Celebration of Life Parties and Gatherings
A memorial gathering can take place almost anywhere.
You might choose a local function room, social club, hotel, restaurant, village hall or private venue. Some families hire a chapel or other special location, while others simply arrange an informal Celebration of Life party somewhere that held meaning for the person who has passed.
Wherever you decide to gather, our bespoke Celebration of Life booklets can be designed and printed especially for the occasion, providing your guests with a beautiful keepsake to take home.
These can provide structure if you are holding readings, speeches or playing particular pieces of music, but they can equally be designed primarily as a keepsake for everyone to take home.
Bespoke Memorial Booklets Designed Around Your Loved One
Our Celebration of Life booklets can be completely personalised, combining photographs, memories and meaningful design elements to create something unique to your loved one.
At Orchid Memories, we don’t believe that memorial stationery needs to look generic.
We create bespoke designs inspired by the individual being remembered. This could incorporate their favourite flowers or colours, hobbies and interests, a favourite place, sport, music or simply a particular style that reminds you of them.
We can combine your chosen design with photographs and memories to create a personalised memorial Order of Service or Celebration of Life booklet that genuinely reflects their personality.
If you’re unsure what sort of design would be suitable, please don’t worry. We can take the reins and create something tasteful and fitting from the information and photographs you provide.
Celebration of Life Photo Boards
As well as Order of Service and memorial booklet printing, Orchid Memories can also produce personalised funeral and memorial photo boards for Celebration of Life gatherings.
A large photo board can make a lovely focal point at the venue, particularly when combined with photographs from different stages of your loved one’s life.
It can be displayed alongside flowers, treasured belongings, candles or other personal items to create a dedicated area where guests can stop, look through photographs and remember special moments.
Creating a Meaningful Goodbye in Your Own Way
Choosing a direct cremation, simple cremation or unattended funeral doesn’t make the goodbye any less meaningful. For some families, separating the cremation itself from the celebration gives them greater freedom to organise a memorial gathering that truly reflects the person they have lost.
There doesn’t have to be a traditional funeral format.
You can gather together, share photographs, tell stories, listen to favourite music, read poems, laugh about treasured memories and celebrate a life in a way that feels right for your family.
And you can still have something beautiful and tangible for everyone to keep.
