Recently, we had the privilege of working with a family to design a bespoke funeral order of service booklet and a stunning floral tribute to celebrate the life of their beloved mum, Julie. This project allowed us to combine creativity, sensitivity, and attention to detail to ensure the family had a fitting way to say goodbye.
The Order of Service Funeral Booklet Design
One of the most significant elements of any funeral is the order of service booklet. It serves not only as a guide to the ceremony but also as a keepsake for attendees to remember their loved one. The front cover of the order of service funeral booklet featured a beautifully designed “Roses in Heaven” theme. This design incorporated soft pink roses, which symbolised love and admiration, perfectly capturing the essence of Julie’s personality. To add a more personal touch, we integrated a faded photograph of Julie into the design. This wasn’t just any photo—it was carefully edited and merged with an image of her home, creating a unique and heartfelt connection to the life she had lived.
This subtle yet powerful feature became the watermark for the back page of the funeral order of service, creating a harmonious blend of visuals that paid tribute to Julie’s memory. Customised Floral Tribute with a Unique Twist
In addition to the order of service booklet, the family entrusted us with creating a personalised floral tribute. They wanted something that would reflect Julie’s character and bring a smile to those attending the funeral. After discussing various ideas, we landed on an incredibly unique concept: a tribute styled as the front page of the Sun newspaper.
We began by designing a customised newspaper cover that featured Julie as the headline. The main headline read, “Heaven Has Gained an Angel,” a touching sentiment that captured the family’s feelings. The cover also included smaller features, such as poems about losing a mum and details of the funeral service. To make it feel authentic, we used the Sun’s iconic logo and included the date of the service as the publication date.
Once the design was finalised, we printed and laminated the newspaper cover to ensure it was durable and vibrant. This personalised printing element elevated the tribute, making it a standout feature at the funeral.
The Floral Arrangement
To complement the newspaper design, we created a stunning floral arrangement using a bed of pure white chrysanthemums. These flowers are a traditional choice for funeral flowers, symbolising honour, respect, and remembrance. Around the edges of the arrangement, we added a red ribbon to match the Sun’s branding, providing a polished and cohesive look.
We further enhanced the design by incorporating red roses in the corner of the arrangement. Red roses are often used in flowers at a funeral to signify deep love and respect, making them a perfect addition to this tribute.
The laminated newspaper cover was then carefully pinned to the floral arrangement, which was mounted on a stand so it could be displayed upright during the service. The final result was a beautifully crafted tribute that honoured Julie in a way that was both personal and meaningful. The family was incredibly touched by the effort and care that went into creating this unique memorial.
